Images taken with my Mintron camera

This spring I sold my ST5 and ordered a Mintron b/w video camera instead. Although the video camera has no cooling, it still shows even more detail than the ST5 did with my telescope. The reasons are that with the shorter integration times I can ignore all "events" from my mount (e.g. backlash) which makes it quite easy to have enough images added to get longer exposure times in the resulting image. Furthermore the live image makes focusing and finding objects a lot easier.

These are my first test images with the mintron:

M108

2003-05-18, 1:00 UT
Integration time: 18 minutes video
8" Newton, f/6, Prime Focus
Mintron b/w video camera
processed with Giotto 1.23

Due to a miscalculation (grrr) I lost half the video images from the resulting addition. The real integration time here is only 9 minutes...

Integration time: 18 minutes video
8" Newton, f/6, Prime Focus

processed with Giotto 1.23

M57 (Ring Nebula in Lyra)

2003-08-09, 1:25 UT
Integration time: 18 minutes video
8" Newton, f/6, Prime Focus
Mintron SW-Videokamera
processed with Giotto 1.24

With almost 30 Celsius in my dome the mintron showed a lot of hot pixels which made the resulting image a little messy. Still I think it is worth showing it. The shown part is enlarged by 2.

The image below is an image which I took with the same teslescope setup but with the ST5. It is a part of the full image, enlarged by 2 as well.
